Green Star maintains an ever-increasing inventory of wetland grasses, sedges, forbs, submersed, floating and woody species. Our new farm in Alvin TX is available for visits by appointment. CONTRACT GRow OUT
We use our extensive knowledge of native plants to locate natural populations for seed collection or transplanting. Propagation by seed or division can be done to your specifications.
A note about our collection practices: Our staff are trained in best practices for field collection. We take 10% or less of the plants in any given population and only where hundreds of plants can be observed. Depending on the species, we collect seed or dig divisions. We spread out our collecting so that we get the most diversity and make the least impact. Our goal is to leave no trace.

planting CONSULTATION
Green Star provides wetland planting services on a limited basis. For larger projects, we provide consultation and training for third party planting. This guidance ensures that the right species are planted at the right depth, whether your site is barely wet most of the year, or hip deep in muddy water. Aquatic species are particular about the depth of water they need to thrive, and it is important to get them to the optimal location in the wetland.
Previously overrun with cattails, our maintenance regimen has allowed this stormwater pond in the Texas Medical Center to demonstrate the natural beauty and function of wetlands.
maintenance CONSULTATION
Upkeep is critical to the function and appearance of a specialized area like a wetland. In many places the natural wetland maintenance regimens of grazing, fire, and flooding are no longer practical! New invasive species that can dominate a wetland abound, as well as certain native species that can overrun aquatic landscapes. Green Star can provide guidance on identifying and removing invasive or aggressive species, thinning and grooming existing plantings, selective herbicide treatment, and replacement planting as needed.
